Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has declared that Olivier Giroud's tireless efforts in attack have contributed to his popularity among Gunners fans, while insisting that the forward can still get better.
Giroud scored his eighth goal of the season to seal Arsenal's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend, starting a move which he finished from close range after heading home Aaron Ramsey's cross.
Wenger thinks that Giroud has the attitude and spirit to make further advancements during his time at the Emirates, while admitting that his work ethic goes a long way with the travelling Arsenal faithful.
He told the Daily Mail: "Olivier always puts a shift in, that is what makes him great. He misses some chances but he always gets the support from our fans because he shows he is ready for a fight.
"The fact that he kept going against Palace got him the goal. How much he has improved, I don't know. But he has, that's obvious to everybody.
"If he keeps working like that then he will improve again. I like his spirit."
Giroud's latest strike helped ensure that Arsenal sit top of the Premier League after nine games, winning seven of their fixtures to date.
