Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has praised Robin van Persie after the striker reached another milestone during tonight's 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Gunners captain equalled Ian Wright's record of scoring against 17 of the 19 opponents in a Premier League season when he converted an early penalty.
"Van Persie is not used to scoring so many in a season and equalled Ian Wright's record of scoring against 17 teams out of 20," The Mirror quotes Wenger as saying.
"That is absolutely remarkable in the modern game and I'd like to congratulate.
"You only have 19 teams to score against and to do it against 17 is something sensational. He could have beaten it if he had scored against Man City and yet he hit the post and had another blocked by Thomas Vermaelen."
The spot kick took Van Persie's tally for the season to 34 goals, and moved Arsenal five points ahead of city rivals Tottenham Hotspur in third place.
