Arsene Wenger has said that the possession statistics from Arsenal's match with Southampton this weekend are misleading.
The Gunners claimed a 2-0 win over the Saints at the Emirates Stadium, with Olivier Giroud scoring both goals for the home side.
Despite losing the game, the visitors saw more of the ball, but Wenger has claimed that they posed very little attacking threat to his team.
"Against Southampton they had a lot of ball possession but in their own half of the field and very little in our final third, so it's an illusion, these possession statistics," he told the club's official website.
"The right balance in ball possession is progression and you can see it in Tottenham and Manchester City, where Tottenham actually had more ball possession."
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table.
