Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he is giving summer signing Granit Xhaka time to adapt to the pace of English football.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that he is in no rush to play summer signing Granit Xhaka on a regular basis.

Wenger spent £30m to sign Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, but the Swiss international has been limited to just 19 minutes of action in the matches with Southampton and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Wenger has called for patience from the club's supporters as he gives Xhaka time to adapt to the pace of English football.

The Frenchman is quoted by The Guardian as saying: "It's not about his quality at the moment as he adapts to the pace of the English game and for me it's about pairs as well who work together. Coquelin and Cazorla have worked well together. He will play games and every week he is stronger and better. He will have a huge impact as a player.

"He has the stature, he has the power, he has the strength. What we want is to use that in a very efficient way. We are in September, we started in August so it's one month. Many players take time to get into the team, but he will do that without any problem."

Xhaka is expected to be in the squad when Arsenal face Hull City on Saturday.
