Jack Wilshere confirms that an operation to repair a bone in his right ankle "went well".

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that an operation on his ankle went according to plan.

The 19-year-old, who has not featured for the Gunners this season, underwent surgery earlier today to repair a damaged bone in his right ankle.

"Had my operation and all went well! I am feeling good will spend the night in hospital to monitor me but apart from that I am happy!," the England international confirmed on his Twitter page.

The operation is expected to keep Wilshere out of action until Christmas.
