Arsenal have revealed that midfielder Jack Wilshere underwent a successful knee operation in Sweden today.
The England international picked up an injury as he recovered from an ankle problem that caused him to miss the entirety of the Gunners' season.
Arsenal confirmed earlier this month that he would undergo "minor surgery" on the issue and have now announced that the operation went according to plan.
A statement on the club's official website said: "Jack Wilshere has successfully undergone a minor procedure on his left knee as planned on Tuesday afternoon.
"The 20 year-old will continue his rehabilitation in the coming days back at Arsenal.
"This procedure is not expected to significantly affect Jack's return date in the summer."
Wilshere is hoping to join up with his teammates for pre-season training in July.
