Jack Wilshere could make his first-team comeback this weekend after he was included in Arsenal's squad to face Norwich City at Carrow Road.
The England midfielder has been sidelined for 14 months with a succession of ankle and knee injuries.
He has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks by playing in several youth and reserve team fixtures.
Despite manager Arsene Wenger insisting that the 20-year-old would not be rushed back, he has named him in the Gunners squad for the trip to the Canaries.
Wilshere's agent Simon Bayliff tweeted: "It's been two "good news" days in a row. Doesn't happen very often. Jack travels to Norwich in the #AFC 1st team squad! Delighted."
Wilshere has made 64 appearances for Arsenal since debuting in 2008.
