Arsenal are still waiting for their first home win of the new Premier League season after playing out a goalless 90 minutes against Liverpool on Monday.

The visitors enjoyed the best of the first period at the Emirates, but Arsenal improved in the second and will feel that they deserved at least a share of the spoils in London.

The Gunners have now collected four points from their first three league games, while Liverpool have seven.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at how each player performed in North London.

ARSENAL

Goal

Petr Cech: Had an outstanding game between the sticks. Made a world-class save to deny Christian Benteke in the first period and also got fingertips to a Philippe Coutinho effort. (9/10)

Defence

Hector Bellerin: Usually such a threat in forward areas, but the Spaniard was a little off-colour here. Was also caught out defensively when Liverpool threatened in the final third. (6/10)

Calum Chambers: Had a really poor first period as he was caught both in and out of possession, but did improve as the match developed and managed to contain Benteke in the second half. (5/10)

Gabriel Paulista: Probably the best member of Arsenal's back four on the night. Used his pace to escape a number of potentially dangerous situations, especially in the first half. (6/10)

Nacho Monreal: Has seen off the challenge of Kieran Gibbs to nail down the left-back spot for Arsenal and improved in the second period following a poor first. (6/10)

Midfield

Francis Coquelin: Was one of Arsenal's better players on the night. Made a number of vital interceptions and was also neat and tidy on the ball. Can be pleased with his overall performance. (7/10)

Santi Cazorla: As expected, the Spaniard was neat in possession of the ball, but he was exposed in a defensive position, especially in the first 45 minutes of action. (6/10)

Aaron Ramsey: Unfortunate not to open the scoring in the first period, with the linesman's flag raised when the Welshman seemed level with the final defender. Came close on a couple more occasions. (6/10)

Attack

Alexis Sanchez: Was hardly seen in the first period, but was lively in the second and hit the post from close range. Not one of the Chilean's better performances in an Arsenal shirt. (6/10)

Olivier Giroud: Hardly had a kick in the first period, but had two or three excellent chances in the second. Could not convert, however, and was replaced by Theo Walcott for the final 20 minutes. (6/10)

Mesut Ozil: One of those games for the German. Was too sloppy in possession of the ball and did not track back when it was needed. An excellent player, but needed to produce more here. (6/10)

Substitutes

Theo Walcott: Was only given the final 15 minutes and did not really see enough of the ball. Will be asking questions if he continues to start games on the bench this season. (6/10)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Another that would have been disappointed to have started on the bench, but the England international looked bright late on as he delivered a couple of excellent balls. (6/10)

LIVERPOOL

Goal

Simon Mignolet: Has now kept more clean sheets than any other Premier League goalkeeper in 2015. Did not have an awful lot to do, but made a couple of smart saves in the second period. (7/10)

Defence

Nathaniel Clyne: Had a strong game down the right for Liverpool. Perhaps not as prominent in a forward sense as he might have been, but did not give Arsenal much change down the other end. (7/10)

Martin Skrtel: Was criticised for some poor performances last season, but had a strong game here. Made a couple of excellent clearances in the second period and was aerially dominant. (8/10)

Dejan Lovren: Another that has started the season much better for the Reds. Still not overly comfortable in possession of the ball, but helped keep Giroud in check with a strong performance. (7/10)

Joe Gomez: Still just a teenager, but put in a mature performance at left-back. Guilty of losing possession on a couple of occasions, but his powerful running was a feature of Liverpool's play. (7/10)

Midfield

Emre Can: Was given licence to break forward throughout the match, but was a little guilty of losing possession too easily. Strong performance on his return to the side. (7/10)

James Milner: Typically workmanlike performance from the versatile midfielder, who was solid rather than spectacular. Took the captain's armband in the absence of Jordan Henderson. (6/10)

Lucas Leiva: Has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield in recent weeks, but the Brazilian was given a start at the Emirates and put in a solid 75 minutes of work. (7/10)

Attack

Roberto Firmino: Showed bits and pieces during his first start for the Reds. Dangerous in the first period, but faded in the second half and was replaced not long after the hour mark by Jordon Ibe. (6/10)

Christian Benteke: Had a glorious chance to send Liverpool ahead in the first period, but was somehow denied by Cech. Provided a good out-ball for the visitors with his strength and power. (7/10)

Philippe Coutinho: Hit the woodwork on two separate occasions and was involved in almost everything that happened for Liverpool. Deserved to find the back of the net in London. (7/10)

Substitutes

Jordon Ibe: Came on for the final 30 minutes, but kept losing possession in forward areas, which put his teammates under serious pressure. Needs to improve his decision-making. (5/10)

Jordan Rossiter: Made his Premier League debut after entering 15 minutes from time. Was tidy in possession of the ball and helped his team hold on for a point. (6/10)

Alberto Moreno: Had the chance to win it for Liverpool late on after a motoring run from his own half, but picked the wrong pass and the chance was gone. (6/10)
