Sports Mole rates the performances of the players involved in Arsenal's 2-0 home victory over Everton.

A goal in either half earned Arsenal a 2-0 victory from their home clash with Everton this afternoon.

Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock, with Tomas Rosicky securing the three points in the final minute.

Here, Sports Mole looks back over the contest and rates the performances of all of the players who were on show at the Emirates Stadium.

ARSENAL

Goal

David Ospina: It was a very good performance from the Colombian, who is nailing down the number-one jersey. His save to deny Lukaku in the second half was the highlight of his afternoon. (7/10)

Defence

Hector Bellerin: The youngster was caught out of position on a couple of occasions, but his pace allowed him to get back and clear the danger. (6/10)

Gabriel: There was a couple of nervy moments for the January signing from Villarreal, but he grew into the contest and ended up having a solid game. (6/10)

Laurent Koscielny: Aside from his booking for a late challenge on Lennon, it was a steady display from the centre-back. (6/10)

Kieran Gibbs: With his speed, Gibbs was able to get up and down the left flank all afternoon. (7/10)

Midfield

Francis Coquelin: The holding midfielder made some key challenges in and around the Arsenal box. He also put his body on the line for the cause, highlighted by his two facial injuries. (7/10)

Santi Cazorla: He was uncharacteristically quiet for large parts of the game, although there was the odd flash of brilliance with the ball at his feet. (6/10)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: A couple of positive dribbles forward caused problems, but he would have liked to have been more involved in proceedings. (6/10)

Mesut Ozil: For all his talent of, Arsenal would want to see more from Ozil. Apart from his corner, which assisted the first goal, he did little of note and wasted a good chance to score late on. (5/10)

Alexis Sanchez: It was a frustrating afternoon for the Chilean, who struggled to see much of the ball. He looked disappointed when substituted in the closing stages. (5/10)

Attack

Olivier Giroud: Responded well to his poor outing during the week. The goal gave the Frenchman confidence and he ended up posing numerous questions of the Everton rearguard. (7/10)

Substitutes

Tomas Rosicky: Only on the field for eight minutes, yet he kept possession well and went on to score his team's second goal. (7/10)

Danny Welbeck: Replaced Sanchez, but he struggled to get involved before the final whistle. (5/10)

Calum Chambers: Brought on in midfield, Chambers worked hard during the seven minutes of stoppage time and made a couple of good tackles. (6/10)

EVERTON

Goal

Tim Howard: At fault last weekend, but Howard could do little about either Arsenal goal today. (6/10)

Defence

Luke Garbutt: The biggest compliment that can be paid to the youngster is that Everton did not miss the injured Baines. He got forward well and sent a handful of good crosses into the box. (7/10)

John Stones: It was a steady enough showing, but he switched off at a corner, which allowed Giroud to break the deadlock. (5/10)

Phil Jagielka: The centre-back made so many brave blocks as the game wore on, but his hard work was undone late on with some poor positioning that resulted in the second goal. (5/10)

Seamus Coleman: He got forward at times, but the Irishman does not look the same player that he did 12 months ago. (6/10)

Midfield

Gareth Barry: Carried out his duties in front of the back four without having too much of an impact on the game. (6/10)

Muhamed Besic: The Bosnian covered plenty of ground, but it was not much of a shock when he was replaced, having had a quiet game. (6/10)

James McCarthy: The midfielder showed that he is back to fitness by putting in a tireless performance. (6/10)

Ross Barkley: It is still not happening for Barkley. Playing in a wide position, he struggled to get involved in the game for large parts. (5/10)

Kevin Mirallas: Back in the starting lineup, the usually lively Belgian did little to justify his selection. It did not come as a surprise when he was substituted with 30 minutes remaining. (5/10)

Attack

Romelu Lukaku: The centre-forward looked up for it today. He did not score, but he made life difficult for the Arsenal centre-backs and forced Ospina to make a really good save. (7/10)

Substitutes

Aaron Lennon: A couple of sights of goal, but the Tottenham Hotspur loanee failed to convert either of them. (6/10)

Steven Naismith: Made very little impact when brought on with 13 minutes left to play. (6/10)

Darron Gibson: The former Manchester United midfielder contributed little during his short stint on the pitch. (5/10)
