Arsenal and Manchester City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Emirates this afternoon as the hosts continued their unbeaten start to the new Premier League season.

The visitors took the lead in the first half courtesy of a Sergio Aguero strike, but goals from Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez saw Arsenal turn it around after the break.

Martin Demichelis rescued a point for the champions late on, however, nodding home from a corner to make it 2-2.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed during an action-packed 90 minutes in North London.

ARSENAL

Goal

Wojciech Szczesny: Got a hand to Demichelis's equaliser, but just couldn't do enough to keep it out. Was helpless to deny Aguero for the opener, but did make two vital stops to thwart Silva and Dzeko. (7/10)

Defence

Mathieu Debuchy: Another solid performance in an Arsenal shirt from the right-back. Dealt well with James Milner at the back, but struggled to make too much impact in attack. Went off in the second half with what looks like a serious injury. (6/10)

Per Mertesacker: Decent performance from the German as he dealt with most of the danger that came his way. Was left exposed for the opening goal and was not at fault for the equaliser. (6/10)

Laurent Koscielny: An okay display this afternoon, although he may have done more to prevent the opener as he let Aguero run. Sliced on to his own post late on, but generally a solid enough performance. (6/10)

Nacho Monreal: Allowed Navas to race away from him to keep the ball in for the opening goal and made nowhere near enough effort to get back. Didn't make much of an impact going forward either. A difficult afternoon for the Spaniard. (5/10)

Midfield

Jack Wilshere: Was very involved throughout, and had a big say on the final result. Took his goal very well inside the box before supplying the assist for the equaliser, although that was all about the finish. Was the target of a number of robust challenges in a physical midfield battle, but kept his head and put in a man-of-the-match performance. (8/10)

Mathieu Flamini: Relished the physical nature of the midfield battle and contributed to his side's dominance of that area early on. However, fell asleep to allow Aguero in for the opening goal. (6/10)

Aaron Ramsey: A quieter performance than we are used to seeing from him recently. Passed a late fitness test and didn't look like he was 100%. Even so, provided the assist for the opening goal and contributed to his side's good work in the middle of the park. (7/10)

Mesut Ozil: Still yet to really prove himself in the Premier League. Another anonymous performance from the German, who was largely careless in possession when he was involved. (5/10)

Alexis Sanchez: Looked threatening throughout with some clever runs and dangerous darts behind the City holding midfielders. Put his side ahead with a stunning volley that is worth an extra mark on its own. (8/10)

Attack

Danny Welbeck: Decent performance from the debutant, who looked bright when his side were on top in the opening 25 minutes. Faded from the game slightly after that, however. Missed a glorious chance to give his side the lead after 12 minutes when his clever chip came back off the post. (7/10)

Substitutes

Calum Chambers: Replaced the injured Debuchy with just under 10 minutes remaining and didn't have much time to make an impact. (6/10)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Only came on in the 88th minute, giving him very little time to make an impression. (6/10)

Mikel Arteta: Had one minute on the field having replaced Mathieu Flamini deep into stoppage time. (6/10)

MAN CITY

Goal

Joe Hart: May feel that he could have stayed up for longer for Wilshere's goal, but could do nothing about the Sanchez strike. Handling was good throughout as he came for a number of crosses to take the pressure off his side. Also made a few important stops when his side were under pressure in the first half. (7/10)

Defence

Pablo Zabaleta: Was up and down the right flank all afternoon, as usual. Put in a strong display on the whole, but was caught out a couple of times by Sanchez, including for the goal. (6/10)

Vincent Kompany: Tried to lead by example for his side and put in a number of morale-boosting tackles and blocks. A typically inspirational performance. (7/10)

Martin Demichelis: Scored the equaliser for his side with a fine header, though was left unmarked inside the box. Maybe could have done better with Wilshere's goal, but certainly made up for it. (7/10)

Gael Clichy: Decent performance against his former club as he limited Ozil's impact on the game. Had a chance to score himself in the second half, but his effort drifted narrowly past the post. (7/10)

Midfield

Frank Lampard: Struggled on his City debut, clattering into a few late challenges and being booked. Was overrun in midfield for much of the first half before being brought off at the break. (5/10)

Fernandinho: Got through a lot of work in the middle of the park to break up a lot of play. His techniques weren't always legal, but they were often effective. (7/10)

James Milner: Struggled to make an impact going forward, but also provided his full-back with extra cover defensively. A pretty standard performance. (6/10)

David Silva: Couldn't get into the match in the opening 25 minutes, but began to pull the strings towards the end of the first half. Almost gifted the hosts a goal after 12 minutes, but recovered to have a good game. (7/10)

Jesus Navas: Provided the opening goal with great pace to keep the ball in and showed good composure to delay his pass before threading it through for Aguero. (7/10)

Attack

Sergio Aguero: Took his goal well having also been involved in the build-up and enjoyed a really bright spell in the final 15 minutes of the first half. Was taken off after just 67 minutes, though. (7/10)

Substitutes

Samir Nasri: Came on for Lampard at half time and made a few contributions here and there, including a disallowed goal. Didn't make a huge difference to the match, apart from allowing Milner to go more central and make the midfield more solid. (6/10)

Edin Dzeko: Replaced Aguero with just over 20 minutes remaining and missed a glorious chance late on, although that was largely down to a fine Szczesny save. Was also involved in an incident that saw the ball squirm onto the post having come off Koscielny last. (7/10)

Aleksandar Kolarov: Provided the corner for the equaliser and also hit the post late on with a shot that didn't look like it posed any danger originally. A decent 13-minute cameo. (7/10)
