Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-0 in a pre-season friendly match in Beijing this afternoon.

Manchester City have beaten Arsenal 2-0 in a pre-season friendly in Beijing this afternoon.

The first chance came after just five minutes and fell to Carlos Tevez, but the striker scuffed his shot into the arms of Lukasz Fabianski.

Sergio Aguero then showed some neat footwork inside the box before his goalbound shot was blocked by Jenkinson.

Arsenal almost took the lead on the half-hour mark when Toure was tackled on the edge of his own penalty area. The ball rolled out to Theo Walcott, who fired his shot from 30 yards inches past the post.

Costel Pantilimon was then called into action with another long-ranger as Andre Santos's effort forced him to parry the ball wide.

City responded through Toure, who found Aguero only for the Argentinian to see his effort hit the top of the crossbar.

The champions were soon ahead, however, and again Toure was the architect. This time he slipped the overlapping Pablo Zabaleta in, and the right-back hammered the ball past Fabianski.

This lead was doubled just minutes later when Kolarov fired a ball across goal towards Aguero, who in turn found Toure, who made no mistake with the finish.

Arsenal pushed on looking for a goal that would get them back in the game, and should have got it less than ten minutes into the second half. Chamakh played in Gervinho, but the Ivorian couldn't finish the chance.

The Gunners continued to pour forward, and came agonisingly close through Oxlade-Chamberlain when his 30-yard strike bounced off both posts before rolling to safety.

Chamakh then came close with a header before Aguero should have put the game to rest. Tevez slid the ball through to his compatriot, but Aguero's chipped finish fell just wide of the post.

Pantilimon was called into action a few more times towards the end of the match, and Oxlade-Chamberlain saw another effort fly just wide but the Premier League champions saw out the match with a 2-0 victory.
