Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has emerged as a candidate for the Barcelona job, according to a report.
The Blaugrana's current boss Ronald Koeman is facing an uncertain future in Catalonia, with his side finishing third in La Liga and suffering a last-16 exit in the Champions League during the 2020-21 season.
Koeman did oversee a Copa del Rey success in his first term at the helm, but the Dutchman is expected to hold crunch talks with president Joan Laporta over his future in the coming days.
Should Laporta decide that a fresh face in the dugout is needed, Mundo Deportivo reports that rookie manager Arteta is under consideration for the job.
The report claims that Arteta's links with Pep Guardiola makes him an attractive option, but more experienced shortlisted candidates such as Roberto Martinez and Erik ten Hag may be favoured, while former midfielder Xavi is thought to be the frontrunner.
Arteta's Arsenal ended eighth in the Premier League table during his first full season in charge, and the Spaniard has won 47 of his 86 games at the helm since taking over from Unai Emery. body check tags ::
