Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that they have received bids for midfielder Lucas Paqueta amid interest from Premier League duo Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The 24-year-old was a standout performer for the French outfit last season, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists in 43 matches across all competitions.

One previous report claims that the Gunners are pushing to beat the Magpies to sign the Brazil international, who is believed to be valued at around €80m (£68m).

Aulas has since revealed that Lyon have received offers for Paqueta, but he refused to be drawn on exactly which clubs have expressed their interest.

Speaking to reporters, via Goal, Aulas said: "There are proposals for him. There are certain players who can feel complete in the project, and others who don't. Economically, we have the means to pursue our ideas and objectives.

"The coach gave us his opinion and there is also what the players wants to do."

Paqueta, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, joined Lyon for around £17m in the summer of 2020 and he still has three years remaining on his contract.

Over in Italy, Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo missed their opening behind-closed-door pre-season friendly against Trastevere, amid reported interest from Juventus.

The 23-year-old's future in the Italian capital is believed to be uncertain, as talks to extend his contract – which expires in June 2024 – have stalled.

Calciomercato reports that Zaniolo missed their opening pre-season game due to a minor back injury, but his absence from Jose Mourinho's squad has sparked speculation over a potential switch to Turin for the attacker.

The report adds that should Roma agree to let Zaniolo leave, they would be willing to entertain offers in the region of €60m, and they are also open to the prospect of negotiating an initial loan with an obligation to buy with interested clubs.

Zaniolo recorded eight goals and nine assists in 42 appearances for Roma across all competitions last season, including the winning strike to help I Giallorossi win the Europa Conference League final against Feyenoord.

Meanwhile, Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly closing in on the signing of Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar.

The 27-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his contract at San Siro and the Nerazzurri are believed to be open to selling the centre-back to balance their books.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Skriniar returned to Inter's training ground over the weekend, but the Slovakia international is edging closer to joining PSG.

The report adds that a fee in the region of €65m plus add-ons has been agreed between the two clubs, while the defender has also agreed personal terms with the French giants.

Skriniar has spent the last five years with Inter, making 215 appearances across all competitions and winning three trophies, including the 2020-21 Serie A title.

Elsewhere, Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has reportedly been approached by clubs in the MLS regarding a potential transfer in 2023.

The 33-year-old has spent his entire career with the Catalan giants, but his long-term future with the club remains uncertain as he will see his contract expire next summer.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barca head coach Xavi values Busquets as a key asset in his team and the experienced midfielder will not be leaving Camp Nou this summer.

However, a potential switch to the USA in on the table for the Spaniard if he decides to seek pastures new in a years' time.

Busquets, who is yet to hold talks with Barca over a new contract, has made 676 appearances during his 14-year career with the senior side and has won 32 trophies including eight La Liga titles.
