Martin Zubimendi reportedly has a '100% agreement' with Arsenal over personal terms, with the Real Sociedad midfielder set to make the move to the Emirates Stadium during this summer's transfer window.

The Spain international turned down the chance to make the move to Liverpool last year after the Reds had activated the €60m (£51m) release clause in his contract.

Zubimendi has again been a vital player for Imanol Alguacil's side this season, making 23 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and registering two assists in the process, and he has a contract with his Basque side until June 2027.

However, this campaign is set to be his last with La Real, with the La Liga team said to be planning for his departure.

A recent report claimed that Arsenal had 'virtually completed' a summer deal for Zubimendi, with the Gunners set to activate the buy-out fee in his deal once this summer's transfer window opens.

It was then suggested that Arsenal had not yet secured a deal and could lose out on his signature, with Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona all very much in the hunt for the Euro 2024 winner.

Arsenal have '100% agreement' with Zubimendi

However, according to FootballTransfers, Arsenal have an agreement in place to sign the midfielder, who is set to make the move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Real Sociedad will be unable to prevent the Spaniard from leaving if his release clause is activated, while there is said to be a '100% agreement' over wages, with a switch set to be completed at the end of the campaign.

Zubimendi came through the youth system with La Real, and he has represented the club on 211 occasions in all competitions, scoring nine goals and registering nine assists in the process.

Will Arsenal make any signings in January?

Arsenal's Premier League title hopes for the 2024-25 campaign took a big hit on Saturday when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Aston Villa, with the result leaving them second in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Arteta admitted after the contest that his side are "very short" when asked about potential January arrivals.

"Not the result. When you look at the performances, I don't know how many teams are playing at this level in the league, but when you look at the bench, probably you say, I think we are very short," the Spaniard told reporters.

Arsenal will now switch their attention to the Champions League, preparing to welcome Dinamo Zagreb to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, before heading to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League next weekend. body check tags ::
