Arsenal have reportedly had a £25m offer for Douglas Luiz turned down by Aston Villa.
The Gunners have been pushing to sign the Brazilian on transfer deadline day, but Mikel Arteta's side have seemingly missed out on the central midfielder.
According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal's latest offer, said to be £25m, has been rejected by Villa, who are not prepared to let Luiz leave before the transfer window closes for business.
"Douglas Luiz will not be leaving Aston Villa. That's what the club have been saying all day - the player is not for sale," said reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
"Some of the people involved in the negotiations are a little bit bemused because they were led to believe towards the end of last week that Villa would listen to offers of around £20m for Luiz.
"He hadn't really been starting games under Steven Gerrard and he's out of contract in the summer."
Luiz, who has also been linked with Liverpool, has scored twice in five appearances for Villa during the 2022-23 campaign.
The nine-time Brazil international has entered the final year of his contract at Villa Park, meaning that, as it stands, he would be free to speak to foreign clubs in January. body check tags ::
