Arsenal are reportedly ready to turn to Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings if they fail in their bid to land Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels.
The Gunners are one of a number of European sides being linked with the services of £32m-rated Germany international Hummels.
However, with the fee thought to be excessive and more likely to be matched by Manchester United, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger appears to have unearthed a viable alternative in the Championship.
According to the Daily Mail the Londoners are considering paying up to £8m for 21-year-old Ipswich star Mings.
Wenger may also be attracted by his versatility, with Mings, who came through the youth ranks at Southampton before spells at Yate Town and Chippenham Town, able to play at left back and in the centre of defence.
