Arsenal have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow as a potential summer signing.

Since qualifying for next season's Champions League, boss Mikel Arteta has been proactive in his search for new players, already spending in the region of £200m on a trio of stars.

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and Chelsea forward Kai Havertz have all made the switch to the Emirates Stadium.

In the short term, the Gunners are seemingly under pressure to recoup some funds through player sales, with the only notable exits thus far coming via Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka.

Of the aforementioned additions, Havertz is seemingly being lined up to play in midfield, rather than in the final third where he had mixed success with Chelsea.

Nevertheless, according to Calciomercato, Arteta remains insistent that he still wants to secure the services of another player for the centre of the pitch.

That is despite Jorginho, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira and Mohamed Elneny also being viewed as first-team players ahead of 2023-24.

The report suggests that Sow is very much on the radar of Arteta with the North Londoners to 'aggressively pursue' a deal for the 26-year-old.

Sow has enjoyed a successful stint with Frankfurt, making a total of 161 appearances in all competitions since arriving from Young Boys in 2019.

During that period, Sow has won a Europa League trophy, played eight times in the Champions League and featured on 32 occasions in the Bundesliga in the last campaign.

However, Sow was linked with an exit from Frankfurt last summer before eventually remaining in Germany, and he now has just a year left on his contract.

Lazio are also said to be monitoring the situation after earning their best finish in Serie A for over two decades, subsequently earning them a spot at the top table of European football for the upcoming season.

Sevilla, another team who have qualified for the Champions League through winning the Europa League, are ready to rival Arsenal and the Italian outfit. body check tags ::
