Arsenal have reportedly placed on a £30m price tag on defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, with Serie A side Inter Milan credited with an interest in the player.
The 24-year-old moved to the Emirates Stadium from Bologna in August 2021 but failed to cement a regular place in Mikel Arteta's XI during the 2023-24 campaign.
Tomiyasu started just six Premier League matches as the Gunners finished second behind Manchester City, although he did make 15 appearances off the bench for the North Londoners.
The decision of Arteta to use Ben White at right-back for the majority of the season limited the Japan international's minutes, and the defender could be set for a move away this summer.
According to Inter Live, Arsenal are looking to earn €35m (£30.2m) from the potential sale of Tomiyasu in this window, with Inter Milan keen on bringing the player to Italy.
Last season's Champions League runners-up are in the market for a new centre-back after Milan Skriniar sealed a move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain last month.
The Slovakia international played 246 games for Inter over a seven-year period, and Simone Inzaghi's men are now in need of a replacement to bolster their defensive ranks.
The report claims that 2020-21 Serie A winners could offer €20m (£17.2m) for Tomiyasu, however that proposal is likely to be quickly dismissed by Arteta's Gunners considering their asking price.
It is understood that Inter will struggle to match the £30m demand from Arsenal for the player, although they are said to be hopeful that a deal can be arranged before the closing of the transfer window.
The piece also states that the Nerazzurri are interested in bringing Folarin Balogun to Serie A, however Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla is claiming that Inter are no longer in the race for the United States international.
The former Bologna man has two years left on his current deal at the Emirates, although there is an option for an extra 12 months which would see his stay in England extend until the summer of 2026.
Tomiyasu's game time with Arsenal is under further threat following the arrival of Jurrien Timber from Ajax this summer, meaning that the 24-year-old may need to move elsewhere to secure regular first-team football.
A knee injury at the end of the 2022-23 campaign has not prevented Tomiyasu from featuring in some of Arsenal's pre-season fixtures, with the defender most recently appearing in a 1-1 draw against Monaco on August 2.
Arsenal commence their Premier League campaign by welcoming Nottingham Forest to the Emirates on Saturday afternoon, with Gabriel and William Saliba expected to be the hosts' centre-back pairing from the start. body check tags ::
