Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be in the running to land Chelsea defender Alex.
The Brazilian centre-back has been of interest to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who could clinch the 29-year-old for a cut price, according to the Daily Mail.
While Arsenal's North London rivals Spurs are also keeping tabs on Alex, it is thought that their first choice remains Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill.
Both Alex and Blues striker Nicolas Anelka have reportedly had transfer requests accepted by manager Andre Villas-Boas.
