Arsenal are reportedly still trying to push through an agreement for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey this summer.
The Gunners are understood to have identified the 27-year-old as their top transfer target for when the window reopens, but are unwilling to trigger his £43m release clause.
Atletico will not budge on that asking price, though, and are thought to be trying to tie him down to a new deal which would see that release clause double.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano now claims that Arsenal are still in talks with Thomas, but are yet to come to an agreement with the Spanish outfit.
When asked on Twitter whether an agreement was in place, Romano replied: "Arsenal trying, yes. Agreement or something similar at the moment, no."
Thomas has made 43 appearances for Atletico this season, scoring three times and registering one assist.
