Arsenal will meet the £33m buyout clause for Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak next month, according to a report in The Sun.
The bid would make the 25-year-old the club's second most expensive signing ever, behind only the £38.2m paid for Mesut Ozil in September 2013.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been tracking the Sevilla man for some time but reportedly decided not to press ahead with an offer last summer, when he would have been available for a relatively low £22m.
The Gunners have a lengthy injury list in midfield, with Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky all out.
Krychowiak signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with the La Liga side last month.
