Arsenal are reportedly ready to take an unusual approach in their efforts to secure the signing of a Premier League winger.
Mikel Arteta is eager to strengthen his attacking options during the summer transfer window having sometimes been left frustrated during 2023-24.
That was largely due to centre-forward Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah scoring just nine Premier League goals between them, yet the Spaniard does want to improve competition on the flanks.
Although the central position will likely get priority, Arsenal hope that money can be generated in order to add at least one fresh face in a wide area.
Arsenal ready to up Neto interest
The Gunners have long held an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto without ever coming close to signing the Portugal international.
However, there have been suggestions that Wolves may be prepared to cash in on the playmaker over the coming months if they receive a suitable offer.
According to FootballTransfers, Arsenal are prepared to push for Neto, providing that they can first undergo their own medical assessments.
Arteta and the North Londoners have allegedly been left cautious over what to offer for the player courtesy of his recent hamstring issues.
Neto twice spent a prolonged period on the sidelines last season, restricting him to 18 starts and two substitute outings in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old was able to recover to feature on the final day of the season and has subsequently made two substitute appearances for Portugal at Euro 2024.
Nevertheless, Arsenal are seemingly reluctant to reach a final decision over their proposal until they have made their own judgments.
How much could Neto cost?
Despite his reduced game time, Neto was still able to contribute two goals and nine assists from just 1,521 minutes of football in the top flight.
That has been enough to keep teams interested in his signature, yet Wolves may have to be more realistic over an asking price if they are open to a sale.
The report indicates that the West Midlands outfit may be prepared to accept an offer of £43m for a player who has three years left on his contract. body check tags ::
