Arsenal are reportedly willing to cash in on Lucas Torreira this summer and use the funds to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
Thomas has been tipped as a top transfer target for Arsenal in recent months as manager Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his midfield options during the ongoing window.
However, Atletico's asking price has so far proved to be a sticking point in negotiations, and the Gunners are now considering ways to raise funds in order to bring the 27-year-old to North London.
The Express reports that Arteta has given the green light for the club to sell Torreira, with AC Milan understood to be interested in bringing him back to Serie A.
Arsenal are thought to want to recoup as much of the £26m they spent on Torreira should they sell, which would bring them closer to triggering Thomas's £45m release clause.
The FA Cup winners are expected to undergo a significant overhaul of their midfield unit this summer, with Dani Ceballos having returned to Real Madrid and Matteo Guendouzi's future also coming under scrutiny.
Torreira has struggled to secure a regular spot in the first team under Arteta, particularly since suffering an ankle injury in March.
