Arsenal are reportedly expected to attempt to sign Danilo from Palmeiras when the transfer window reopens in January.

With Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny currently sidelined, Mikel Arteta was believed to be keen to sign a new midfielder before September 1.

They attempted to sign Douglas Luiz on deadline day, but Aston Villa were believed to have rejected their £25m offer for the Brazilian.

A recent report indicated that they had also made a £20m bid to sign Danilo from Palmeiras before the transfer window closes.

Although they were unable to add Danilo to their squad before September 1, according to The Mirror, Arsenal are set to move for the 21-year-old in January.

After talks were previously held with Palmeiras about a potential deal, the Gunners could attempt to bring the Brazilian to the Emirates in the new year.

Danilo has over four years left on his current contract and has scored 12 goals and contributed nine assists in 128 appearances for Palmeiras. body check tags ::
