Arsenal will reportedly attempt to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic during the summer as they look to add to their defensive options.
The 26-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the best defenders in Europe after playing a key role in the Dortmund side that won back-to-back Bundesliga titles and reached the Champions League final in 2013.
Subotic has just over a year left on his current contract at Dortmund and is it thought that the Gunners, along with several other clubs across Europe, could try to sign him in a cut-price deal.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be keen to bring in a new central defender with a view to replacing Per Mertesacker following the German's inconsistent form this season.
Despite signing centre-back Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal in January, Wenger is still looking at potential defensive recruits.
According to ESPN, the Frenchman sees Subotic as someone who will strengthen the backline as he aims to build a side capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
Subotic joined Dortmund from Mainz in 2008.
