Arsenal to rival Chelsea for £17m-rated Spain Under-21 international?

:Headline: Arsenal to rival Chelsea for £17m-rated Spain Under-21 international?:
Arsenal are reportedly set to compete with London rivals Chelsea for the signature of Spain Under-21 international Yeremay Hernandez.

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to rival Chelsea for highly-rated Deportivo La Coruna attacker Yeremay Hernandez.

The 22-year-old has been with Deportivo ever since he joined the club's academy in 2017 following his exit from Real Madrid's youth system.

After making his way through the ranks, Yeremay has gone on to establish himself as an integral part of the first-team set-up at Riazor.

The winger has been in fine form during the current campaign, netting nine goals and providing three assists in 23 appearances in Spain's second tier.

Yeremay, who has made two appearances for Spain's Under-21 side, was the subject of transfer interest from Premier League side Chelsea in the winter window.

Chelsea face Arsenal competition in Yeremay race

Chelsea allegedly made a €15m (£12.6m) offer to sign the attacker, with the intention to send him on loan to their sister club Strasbourg in France.

However, Depor were unwilling to part ways with one of their most prized assets in the middle of the season unless one of his suitors paid his €20m (£17m) release clause.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are still showing an interest in the Deportivo man, with the Blues seemingly weighing up a move for the summer transfer window.

However, the Blues are facing competition from their London rivals Arsenal, who have emerged as a potential destination for the Spanish winger.

The report claims that Chelsea and Arsenal have shown the strongest interest in Yeremay, although he is said to be on the radar of a number of European clubs.

Chelse and Arsenal believe that Yeremay has the ability and characteristics to fit into their playing systems under Enzo Maresca and Mikel Arteta respectively.

Do Arsenal and Chelsea need to sign another winger?

Arsenal's lack of striker options is currently a hot topic after Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus both suffered season-ending injuries.

However, the Gunners also have a lack of depth in wide options which has been exacerbated by Bukayo Saka's current spell on the sidelines.

When fit, Arsenal's alternative wide options include Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli Ethan Nwaneri, which is arguably not sufficient for a club that wants to be competing for multiple honours.

They do currently have Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling at their disposal, but it seems unlikely that they will pursue a permanent move following his underwhelming loan spell.

Chelsea are unlikely to bring Sterling back into their squad, while Mykhaylo Mudryk is serving a provisional doping ban after he tested positive for meldonium.

As a result, the Blues may delve into their transfer market this summer to add to their current wide options which include Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto. body check tags ::
