Arsenal's rivals 'have baulked' at Aaron Ramsdale asking price

:Headline: Arsenal's rivals 'have baulked' at Aaron Ramsdale asking price:
Arsenal are reportedly increasingly unlikely to attract a suitable fee for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is allegedly struggling to attract suitable interest for the summer transfer window.

Ramsdale spent the first two years of his stay at the Emirates Stadium as number one, ousting Bernd Leno and seemingly being settled between the sticks.

That remained the case after the arrival of David Raya from Brentford, yet Mikel Arteta made the decision to remove Ramsdale from the side after the September international break.

Since then, the England international has made just six appearances - two due to Raya being unable to face his parent club - and it is an open secret that he would prefer to move elsewhere.

However, it appears there is currently no obvious route out of the North London outfit at this stage of the summer.

Arsenal in no rush to sell Ramsdale

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are in no rush to facilitate an exit for Ramsdale and have set their own criteria for a replacement if required.

The report claims that an asking price of at least £30m is putting off the clubs who were contemplating making an approach for the 26-year-old.

Newcastle United had been touted as a potential destination, but the Magpies have seemingly turned their attention to Burnley's James Trafford, who may cost no more than £20m.

Links with Chelsea have also quietened down with Enzo Maresca seemingly likely to stick with Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez as his two senior goalkeepers.

As it stands, there appears to be no other obvious option unless a loan proposal is made attractive enough for Arsenal to accept, something which currently appears unlikely.

Arsenal set condition for alternative

If Arsenal do receive an acceptable offer for Ramsdale, they are only prepared to part ways with him if they are able to secure a homegrown replacement.

With a number of academy graduates and homegrown talent available for transfer, Arsenal must ensure they meet all requirements regarding squad selection.

Arteta remains of the opinion that he wishes to keep Ramsdale at the club, although there will be an acknowledgement that the player will not necessarily be content with his current position.

Although Ramsdale has two years remaining on his contract, Arsenal possess the option to extend it by a further 12 months, keeping them in a strong position. body check tags ::
