Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has revealed that he is confident of signing a contract extension at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old midfielder, who is currently out of action with an ankle injury, is due to be a free agent in the summer.
With the Spaniard expected to pen a 12-month extension in the coming months, Arteta is eager to get back to fitness and commit his future to the club.
"My only aim is to get back fit and try to perform on the pitch," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"As long as I do that I am sure that I will continue with this club, with the relationship I have with the club and the respect I have from everybody here. In May, when everything is fine, we will sit down and talk and it will take five minutes."
Arteta has scored one goal in 12 appearances for the Gunners this season.
