Atletico Madrid are reportedly looking to double the wages of midfielder Thomas Partey in order to fend off interest from Arsenal.
The Ghana international has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks following an impressive 2019-20 campaign at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Indeed, Partey has chalked up 35 appearances across all competitions for Diego Simeone's side this season, and the La Liga outfit are supposedly keen to offer him a bumper new deal to stay in the Spanish capital.
According to The Guardian, Atletico have opened negotiations with Partey over a new deal until the summer of 2025, which would see him earn £130,000 per week in Madrid.
The report also claims that Arsenal are yet to make a formal approach for the 26-year-old, but the Gunners have allegedly made contact with the player's agent.
Partey currently has a €50m (£43.6m) release clause at Atletico, but this could rise to €100m (£87.2m) should he pen fresh terms.
The midfielder has chalked up 15 goals in 174 appearances for Atletico across all competitions since 2015.
