Bayern Munich have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, who has been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal.
The French forward has been in fine form for Monchengladbach this season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.
Despite being a key player for Daniel Farke's side, Thuram is widely expected to leave the Bundesliga club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Monchengladbach have been unable to agree a new deal with the 25-year-old, and they are now set to lose him for nothing in the summer.
The German side had the chance to receive a fee for Thuram during the January transfer window, with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid interested in a transfer, but Monchengladbach were unwilling to sanction a sale in the middle of the season.
Thuram is expected to have a number of offers on the table this summer, but he is not expected to receive one from the perennial German champions.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bayern have ended their pursuit of the France international.
The Bavarians, who have not replaced Robert Lewandowski since he joined Barcelona last summer, are prioritising a move for Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane.
The England international has less than 18 months left on his current contract, and his long-term future with Spurs is in doubt.
Kane, however, is reportedly not interested in a move abroad, and would rather remain in the English top flight, as he looks to break Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League record of 260 goals.
If Bayern are unable to land Kane then they have already identified Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani as an alternative option.
Kolo Muani has racked up 14 goals and 14 assists in 29 competitive appearances this season, but with his contract set to run until June 2027, he could command a significant fee.
Thuram, meanwhile, remains a target for Chelsea, Arsenal and Atletico, while he is also attracting interest from elsewhere.
City rivals Inter Milan and AC Milan are believed to be in the running, and Barcelona are another club that could make Thuram a contract offer.
Since joining Monchengladbach from Guingamp in 2019, Thuram has registered 41 goals and 26 assists in 123 games. body check tags ::
