Chelsea are reportedly prepared to rival Arsenal in the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White.

The Gunners are allegedly hopeful of completing a £50m deal for the versatile England international at the end of Euro 2020.

However, according to transfer expert Duncan Castles, Chelsea have made contact with the players' representatives to register an interest in the 23-year-old.

Speaking to the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said: "I now understand that Chelsea have notified the player of their interest in signing him. I think that's significant competition for Arsenal.

"Chelsea can offer Champions League football, can offer a club based in London in the same way that Arsenal can, but one that should be immediately competitive for the Premier League title."

White can play at right-back, centre-back and central midfield, positions that Thomas Tuchel is keen to strengthen before the start of the new season.
