Chelsea are reportedly prepared to show some patience in their efforts to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The Blues made major changes in their goalkeeping department during the summer as Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy - their long-serving stoppers - each left the club.
Brighton & Hove Albion's Robert Sanchez and New England Revolution's Djordje Petrovic were brought in as their replacements during the final month of the last transfer window.
As a result, Sanchez is the undisputed number one with Petrovic yet to make his debut, while American youngster Gabriel Slonina is eventually expected to challenge for a spot in the senior squad.
Nevertheless, that is not to say that Chelsea's goalkeeping options in the long term are set in stone, particularly the role as first choice.
While Sanchez has made 13 starts in all competitions since signing a seven-year contract, the Spaniard has not always look overly convincing between the sticks.
That has led to speculation that Chelsea remain in the market for another fresh face, and Ramsdale's situation at Arsenal has placed them on high alert.
According to talkSPORT report Alex Crook, Chelsea are willing to bide their time in the race to secure a deal for the England international.
Up until September, Ramsdale was regarded as the number one at the Emirates Stadium, despite the high-profile arrival of David Raya from Brentford.
However, since returning from the international break, the 25-year-old has been restricted to just two starts in the EFL Cup, the Gunners having now bowed out of that competition.
As it stands, it is unclear when Ramsdale will next be given the nod by Mikel Arteta, but there is little prospect of the former Bournemouth and Sheffield United man departing North London anytime soon.
That said, with a contract until the end of 2026, Chelsea are said to be ready to keep a watchful eye on Ramsdale who they seemingly view as a future first-choice pick ahead of Sanchez.
Although it has been claimed that Chelsea are willing to pay in the region of £50m for Ramsdale, it is unclear whether Arsenal would be prepared to consider any bids unless the player indicated that he wants to leave next summer. body check tags ::
