Chelsea have reportedly been told that they will need to pay £85m to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
With the January transfer window set to open in less than two weeks, Chelsea are busy drawing up plans for their winter business.
The Blues have identified the final third as an area in need of strengthening, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to sign a new striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja.
A recent report claimed that Chelsea had identified Gyokeres as a potential target after being impressed by his performances in Portugal.
Since completing a £18.5m move from Coventry City in the summer, Gyokeres has gone on to net 16 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions.
Having showcased his finishing ability in his short Sporting career, Gyokeres is attracting interest from Chelsea ahead of the January window.
According to The Mirror, the Blues will have to pay up to £85m to prise the Sweden international away from his current club.
That figure is believed to be Gyokeres's release clause, with Sporting reluctant to part ways with the striker during the January window.
Speaking during the week, Sporting boss Ruben Amorim made it clear that the club have no intention of selling one of their prized assets.
Amorim told reporters: "Gyokeres has a release clause, it was said that in January he would only leave under the clause.
"But it is normal for clubs to pay attention to clubs in Portugal, they know that the players in our championship are prepared for the best leagues in the world."
Gyokeres's former employers, Coventry, are reportedly in line to receive a £850,000 payment once he hits the 25-goal mark.
Should Chelsea decide to pursue a move for Sporting's marksman, they could face competition from their London rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners are allegedly planning a £150m double swoop for Gyokeres and his Sporting teammate Ousmane Diomande. body check tags ::
