Everton are reportedly still interested in signing Alex Iwobi, despite Arsenal rejecting their initial bid earlier this week.
Iwobi had appeared certain to continue his time at the Emirates Stadium this season, having established himself as a valuable member of Unai Emery's squad.
However, it was claimed on Wednesday that Everton had offered the Gunners £30m for the Nigeria international, only for that approach to be turned down by the North Londoners.
Nevertheless, The Mirror claims that Iwobi remains on the Toffees radar, even though it may take a bid in the region of £40m to get a deal over the line.
While Iwobi may find himself in and out of the team over the next 12 months, both Arsenal and Emery value his homegrown status, leading to their high valuation of the 23-year-old.
The playmaker also still has four years remaining on his contract.
