Brentford head coach sends a message to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool over a potential transfer for Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo.
Sports Mole

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has insisted that Bryan Mbeumo will stay at the club in January despite reported interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

With the transfer window set to open on Wednesday, Brentford may be bracing themselves for transfer bids for one of their most prized assets Mbeumo.

Arsenal are believed to be among Mbeumo's potential suitors, with the Gunners on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.

Liverpool have also been credited with an interest, having identified Mbeumo as a potential transfer target ahead of the new year.

Frank responds to Mbeumo transfer rumours

Despite the recent transfer speculation, Brentford are under no immediate pressure to part ways with the Cameroon international.

Mbeumo is currently under contract until the summer of 2026, with the Bees holding an option to extend that by a further 12 months.

Frank insisted that Brentford have no plans to sell Mbeumo in January when asked about the forward's future ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

"[What would I say to] those clubs in January? I would say good luck," Frank told reporters in Monday's pre-match press conference.

"We love Bryan, he loves playing here. He's had a fantastic season so nothing will happen [in January]."

Mbeumo's importance to Brentford

Mbeumo is undoubtedly one of the key players in the Brentford squad, especially after the club's forward options were weakened by Ivan Toney's departure in the summer.

The 25-year-old has racked up 10 goals in 18 Premier League appearances this season - a tally that has only been bettered by five other players.

Mbeumo along with Yoane Wissa, who has scored nine league goals, have netted nearly 60% of Brentford's goals in the Premier League this term, highlighting the pair's importance to Frank's side.

Having failed to score in his previous six appearances against Arsenal, Mbeumo will look to register his first goal versus the Gunners in Wednesday's fixture at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Bees will be looking to return to winning ways after taking just one point from their previous four Premier League matches. body check tags ::
