Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is reportedly now closing in on a move to Roma.
The 28-year-old made 45 appearances for the Gunners during the 2020-21 campaign, but he has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks.
Roma have emerged as the favourites for the Switzerland international, who is said to be prepared to accept a reduced salary in order to play under Jose Mourinho at the Italian club.
According to Sky Italia, the Serie A giants are now on the verge of securing a deal for the Swiss, with a five-year contract already agreed between the two parties.
The report claims that Arsenal have thus far refused to budge on their £17m valuation, but Roma could get the price down by adding performance-related bonuses into the agreement.
Xhaka, who could join up with his potential new teammates next week, has scored 13 times and registered 20 assists in 220 appearances for the Gunners since arriving at the club in 2016.
