Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly set to undergo a medical with Newcastle United in Ecuador ahead of potentially joining the Magpies in a £30m deal.
The 24-year-old's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with Arsenal and Juventus both linked with a move during the January transfer window.
However, Newcastle appear to have emerged as the favourites for the playmaker, with Eddie Howe's side allegedly agreeing a £30m fee with Lyon for his signature.
According to The Athletic, Guimaraes is set to undergo a medical in Ecuador, where he is on international duty, ahead of signing a contract with the Premier League club.
The midfielder has provided six assists in 25 appearances for Lyon during the 2021-22 campaign, while he has represented the French side on 71 occasions since arriving from Athletico Paranaense.
Guimaraes is said to be keen on a move to Newcastle despite being aware of potential interest from Arsenal and Juventus, with the Magpies expected to offer him a large salary.
