Viktor Gyokeres has revealed that he has no intention of leaving Sporting Lisbon during the January transfer window.
After scoring 40 goals across two seasons with Championship side Coventry City, Gyokeres made the €24m switch to Sporting last summer.
Since then, the Sweden international has been one of the form strikers in Europe, contributing 13 strikes and six assists in Primeira Liga and the Europa League during 2023-24.
With Gyokeres possessing a long-term contract and a €100m (£86.8m) release clause, Sporting are in a strong position to retain his services in the long term.
Nevertheless, in recent weeks, it has been suggested that Arsenal and Chelsea have been contemplating whether to make an approach for the 25-year-old.
At a time when Mikel Arteta allegedly wants to bolster his options in the Gunners attack, Chelsea remain on the lookout for a prolific number nine.
There have been suggestions that both clubs may be willing to meet the release clause of Gyokeres, or at the very least make a bid close to that option.
However, in an interview with Record, Gyokeres has ruled out the possibility of changing clubs again at the turn of the year.
Gyokeres said: "I'm very happy here and I don't care about any interested parties at the moment.
"I'm enjoying every day here and not thinking about what's going on around me. Yes, there's talk of big clubs, but for now it's just news. That's all."
When quizzed on his immediate future, he added: "Yes. This is where I want to stay."
The comments of Gyokeres will come as a boost to Sporting at a time when they sit at the top of Portugal's top flight, despite having lost two of their last four fixtures.
As for Arsenal and Chelsea, they are now expected to turn their attention elsewhere, particularly in the case of the latter who have squandered the most big chances in the Premier League this season. body check tags ::
