Liverpool owner John W Henry considers the Luis Suarez transfer saga "over" after ruling out the possibility of selling the striker this summer.

Liverpool owner John W Henry has claimed that the Luis Suarez transfer saga has been "resolved" after he ruled out selling the striker to Arsenal or any other side.

Suarez publicly asked to leave the club earlier this week, claiming that he had a written agreement with manager Brendan Rodgers that would allow him to move to a Champions League side this summer.

Liverpool dispute this, however, and Henry has described the possibility of selling Suarez to Arsenal as "ludicrous". The Liverpool owner now considers the saga over and hopes that the striker can rebuild bridges with Rodgers and the club's fans.

"I think the issue has been resolved now. We have said 'no'. Luis will be a Liverpool player on September 3 [the day after the transfer window closes]," Henry is quoted as saying in The Guardian.

"The manager is upset, as he should be, the supporters are upset, Luis is, but that's going to be between those two and his teammates. We need Luis. Hopefully this will pass.

"If you look at the full context of what's happened here it's jarring to all our supporters. The club has stood by him so strongly at a time when you could question whether the club should have stood by him, but they did. I wouldn't say we regret that. The manager and his teammates were solidly behind him. They were out on the field that day. So we felt they knew more about what occurred than we did, on the field."

Suarez, who missed Liverpool's 4-1 pre-season win over Valerenga yesterday, has been forced to train with the club's reserves following his outburst.
