Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has reportedly emerged as a top transfer target for Inter Milan.
Since the end of the last campaign, speculation has persisted over where Sanchez will play his football next season with just 12 months remaining on his existing deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Manchester City have been regarded as favourites to sign the Chilean attacker should he depart the Gunners, but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have decided to make a significant offer for the 28-year-old.
The Serie A giants have funds available after their recent takeover by Chinese billionaires Suning, and manager Luciano Spalletti is under pressure to put together a team capable of gaining a return to the Champions League.
It has been suggested that Inter will act as direct competition to City, with Bayern Munich said to have pulled out of the race for his signature.
Sanchez has allegedly demanded wages of £400,000 per week in order to remain in North London beyond next summer.
