Leeds United have reportedly ended their effort to sign Arsenal defender Rob Holding.
Ahead of their return to the Premier League, the Yorkshire giants have already brought in Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch from Valencia and Frieburg respectively.
However, head coach Marcelo Bielsa remains keen on adding a second centre-back to his squad, resulting in enquiries being made for Holding.
Recent reports have suggested that Leeds and Newcastle United are going head to head in a battle to sign the Englishman on a season-long loan deal.
According to Football Insider, last season's Championship winners have decided to scrap their bid to sign the 24-year-old.
Holding will now almost certainly complete a switch to St James' Park later this week, likely on a temporary basis.
