Former Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann has said that he is confident Arsene Wenger will make the right decision on Robin van Persie's future.
Van Persie, who netted 30 goals in the league last season, still has a year left on his current contract but talks for a new deal have been overly drawn out.
This has led to increased interest from top clubs around Europe, with newly-crowned Premier League champions Manchester City reportedly leading the race for the Dutchman's signature.
Speaking of Wenger's dilemma, Lehmann, 42, said: "Robin is now 28 and this will be his last big contract. [Wenger] has to consider everything."
The former German international added: "Arsene Wenger was always a master at buying and selling players at the right time. He still has the quality to evaluate the real value of Robin van Persie.
"He always considers the past value of the player and the future value of the player.
Van Persie is thought to be waiting until after this summer's European Championships to make a decision on his future.
