Lokomotiv Moscow have allegedly tabled a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.
The offer is said to have been rejected, but could force Arsenal's hand, as the Gunners have also been linked with the Frenchman.
Reports in Russia suggest that Lokomotiv are ready to return with an improved offer to pip Arsene Wenger's side to the player, according to the Daily Star.
The Ivorian was the subject of interest from a number of clubs last summer, with the Magpies believed to be quoting £30m for his services.
However, more recent reports suggest that a spree of injuries have seen his value drop to around £8m.
