Matteo Guendouzi is reportedly closing in on a move to Marseille from Arsenal on a four-year deal.
The former Lorient man quickly established himself as a regular fixture under Unai Emery's tutelage, but discipline issues marred his time with Mikel Arteta in the 2019-20 campaign.
Guendouzi has not pulled on the Arsenal shirt since being involved in a fracas with Brighton & Hove Albion's Neal Maupay, and he was shipped out on loan to Hertha Berlin last term, but the Bundesliga club did not take up their option to buy the midfielder.
Now, journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter reports that Marseille have agreed an initial loan with an obligation to buy for Guendouzi, who is set to commit his future to Les Olympiens for the next four years.
Toubache-Ter adds that Arsenal will receive €11m (£9.4m) for Guendouzi's exit, and the Frenchman is set to link up with current Gunner William Saliba, who is thought to be closing in on a season-long loan move to the Oranje Velodrome.
The midfielder leaves Arsenal having scored one goal and assisted five more in 82 appearances across all competitions, and he supposedly turned down an approach from Benfica in order to return to France. body check tags ::
