After signing a long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium, defender Per Mertesacker has revealed that his transfer to Arsenal is a "dream" move.
The German international agreed terms with the club earlier today and has joined for £10m from Werder Bremen.
"I had a great time at SV Werder Bremen and I’m grateful to the club," the 26-year-old told the Gunners' official website.
"Moving to London enables me to fulfil a dream and a further step in my career. The Premier League has always represented a great challenge for me."
Mertesacker has been handed the number four shirt.
