Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes that the Gunners are trying to do business in "the most difficult transfer market in this industry in many years".

Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White have all arrived at the Emirates Stadium this summer, but the Gunners continue to be linked with moves for a new playmaker and goalkeeper.

Arsenal are rumoured to be eyeing swoops for James Maddison and Aaron Ramsdale before the transfer window closes, but Arteta has affirmed that the Gunners must "adapt" to the current market.

Speaking ahead of Friday's Premier League opener with Brentford, Arteta said: "It's been really busy - that tells you how much we had to do in our position at the start of the window.

"We're talking about the most difficult transfer market in this industry in many years and we're trying to adapt. We all have the same interest, to make this team stronger and we know what we have to do to get what we want.

"Things take time and there are different parties and interests to get deals done. It's important to make sure the squad is healthy and we have the stability."

Meanwhile, the Gunners boss also affirmed that Joe Willock is "our player" amid links with a permanent move to Newcastle United. body check tags ::
