Bookmakers William Hill have slashed their odds on Wayne Rooney joining Arsenal this summer.
The future of the England forward, who is under contract at Manchester United until June 2015, is uncertain after it was revealed that he submitted a transfer request earlier this year.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that he would be interested in signing Rooney if the right deal could be reached.
William Hill had originally priced the Gunners at 7/1 to be Rooney's club when the transfer window closes.
However, following significant backing, the North London club have been reinstalled as third favourites, behind Man United at 8/11 and Chelsea at 5/2.
"There was a small trickle of money on Thursday for Rooney to join Arsenal, although not enough for us to change the price from 7/1," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
"But today we have seen a huge amount of punters backing the United striker to move to the Emirates."
Rooney has scored six goals in his last nine appearances against Arsenal.
