Thomas Partey's representative Samuel Zigah has appeared to drop a hint over the future of the Atletico Madrid midfielder amid interest from Arsenal.

The Gunners have been chasing the Ghana midfielder for a number of months and have not yet given up hope of striking a deal with Atletico.

Goal correspondent Charles Watts reported on Monday afternoon that Arsenal are ready to trigger Partey's £45m release clause ahead of this evening's 11pm deadline.

Shortly before that announcement, the 27-year-old's public relations officer took to Twitter to post an hourglass emoji, implying that time is running out.

Regardless of what happens with that deal, Lucas Torreira is expected to complete a switch to Atleti in the coming hours.

Meanwhile, Houssem Aouar - another of Arsenal's midfield targets - has confirmed that he will be staying put at Lyon until at least next year.
