Lukas Podolski has admitted that he loves Arsenal but has warned manager Arsene Wenger that he is not a "buffoon who sits out his contract in the stands".
The 29-year-old is expected to quit the Gunners in January after growing frustrated with a big-part role this season, starting just one game in all competitions so far.
However, the Germany international says that he would be more than happy to stay in North London if Wenger gave him a "fair chance" to prove his mettle in the first team.
"I love London, I love the club but I don't like the situation," Podolski told Kicker. "I'm not a buffoon who sits out his contract in the stands.
"I have to try to talk to Arsene Wenger. I want a fair chance."
Italian giants Napoli are among those reportedly keeping tabs on Podolski, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in 2016.
