Arsenal are the latest club to approach Ajax over the possible transfer of their sought-after defender Toby Alderweireld, according to a report.
The Belgian international has turned down a move to Russian outfit Spartak Moscow, and has also been interesting Premier League quartet Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Everton and Norwich City.
Now, with just five days remaining in the transfer window, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to strengthen his squad and a centre-half is high on his wanted list.
According to the Daily Mail the Frenchman has asked Ajax to name their price for Alderweireld, who can play in the centre or on the right of defence.
The Dutch outfit have apparently rejected a bid from Atletico Madrid for the 24-year-old, who made 41 appearances for Ajax last season, scoring three goals.
